- Question : What devices can be connected with the HT-A9 home theater system?Answer : The system has wireless connectivity and supports Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Chromecast built-in, Spotify Connect, and Apple Airplay 2.
- Question : Does the HT-A9 home theater system support High Resolution Audio?Answer : Yes, it is Hi-Res Audio capable and equipped with X-Balanced speaker units.
- Question : Can you connect a wired subwoofer?Answer : The HT-A9 360 Spatial Sound Mapping Dolby Atmos®/DTS: X® Home Theater System does not support a wired subwoofer connection. A wireless subwoofer is recommended for enhancing the bass sound quality.
- Question : Will I have Dolby Atmos on HT-A9 + 4K HDR on TV in this setup: Apple TV last gen (HDMI out) -> HT-A9 (HDMI in) -> LG B7A (HDMI in) [HDR capable, no eARC]?Answer : Yes, you can output Dolby Atmos and other high-quality sound formats by connecting an AV device to the HDMI IN port of the HT-A9. You can also output 4K HDR video to your LG TV if it supports these formats. Note that when connected to a TV without HDMI (eARC), you can only play Dolby Atmos format content output from a playback device, such as Apple TV.
- Question : Will the remote and system perform as expected, even if the hub is mounted to the back of a wall-mounted TV?Answer : It is not recommended to mount the control box of the HT-A9 to the back of the TV as this may cause issues with controlling the system using the remote. It is recommended to install the control box on a shelf where the front panel display is not covered.
- Question : What is the optimal setting in sound effect? Should I leave it on, DTS:X or Dolby? What about Immersive AE and Atmos vs 360 Mapping?Answer : For optimal sound, you can select the Auto sound mode to automatically adjust the sound settings based on the source. Leaving the Immersive AE feature on is recommended. The 360 Spatial Sound Mapping technology provides a surround experience with Dolby Atmos® and DTS:X®.
- Question : Will the speakers have a black color to match the subwoofer?Answer : Currently, the speakers are not available in black. We appreciate your feedback about having a matching color with the SA-SW5 subwoofer.

Sony HT-A9 Home Theater Systems Editorial Review
The HT-A9 360 Spatial Sound Mapping Dolby Atmos/DTS:X Home Theater System is a wireless system that offers spatial audio sound quality. There were a few issues with connecting the speakers, but changing the audio setting to "Connection" rather than "Sound Quality" resolved this. The audio quality is amazing, the calibration process is easy, but the low-end sound needs improvement, even with an upgraded Sony subwoofer. The remote is pretty basic with no backlight functionality, and the system doesn't support wired subwoofer connection. It's recommended to not mount the control box of this system on the back of the TV to avoid issues with controlling the system with the remote.
