Is this the afterbite the one with just ammonia?

Afterbite comes in several iterations. There is one labeled as “outdoor” for camping and the active ingredient is Benadryl. There is another that is a cream that lists the active ingredient as Sodium Bicarbonate (baking soda). The original is a liquid that lists the active ingredient as sodium bicarbonate and one of the Inactive Ingredients as ammonia. Truthfully, baking soda and ammonia are both alkaline and should both be listed as active ingredients. I’ve actually used just ammonia alone to treat a spider bite and it worked just as effectively and just as quickly.

It is a pen-like applicator. The tip is flat with a small hole to allow the liquid out. It is not thick like a gel.

What is the consistency?

The consistency is liquid and not a cream blends in any skin type stops itching and redness.

Love this product but have a question - why does it smell like ammonia or chlorine when the active ingredient on the pencil says baking soda 5% only?

I had the same thought. I’ve bought this product many times throughout the years and do not recall it smelling so bad.

5% sodium bicarbonate is the active ingredient, but it certainly smells as though it contains ammonia.

Anyone know if this would work for itching caused by urticating hairs from a tarantula?

Don’t know, but it works on mosquito bites and biting fly bites.
