We don't recommend freezing the ham.

Does this need to be refrigerated before opening? And how long does is keep after opening?

Yes, it needs to be refrigerated. However, take it out of the fridge about half hour before you consume it. After opening, it will last a while, but it is so good that you'll probably finish it the first day.
