- Question : What kind of iron can this system remove?Answer : The system is able to remove ferrous (clear water) iron. For ferric iron a dedicated iron filter is recommended.
- Question : What is the capacity of this system?Answer : It can treat up to 16GPM.
- Question : Is the installation process difficult?Answer : No, the system comes with DIY Installation Instructions and Free Phone and/or email Tech Support.
- Question : My tube from tank to brine tank is missing. I need one asap! How can I obtain one?Answer : It does not come with a drain tube because every setup is different. You can obtain one from any hardware store.
- Question : I have a sulfur, iron filter with air injector. The tank uses activated carbon. I want to add this. Would this go after or before my current system?Answer : After.
- Question : Installed last year but still having an egg, sulfur smell. Set correctly to specifications for our water. Any ideas to get the smell out? ThanksAnswer : The iron pro softener does not remove odor. This is for hard water and low to moderate iron levels. For sulfur or rotten egg odor, you need to do an oxidizing filter system inline first, then follow with a water softener such as this. The air injection platinum is a great choice for sulfur and iron.
- Question : My plumber questioned what media is used to remove the iron. There is no mention of media bed like filox or zeoprep. What is used?Answer : This is a water softener. Water softener resin removes low levels of iron, this version uses a fine mesh softening resin that removes higher levels of iron.
- Question : How many amps does this unit take to operate? I am in the process of building my house and wanted to go ahead and run the electric for it.Answer : I have mine plugged into a regular outlet that is run off of a 15 amp breaker.
- Question : My iron prto 2 set at factory, DO set at 15 and hardness set at 20. I recently lowered hardness to 16 and hot water turned yellow. What should I do?Answer : I would get some test strips and check for iron or iodine. We went through this for weeks, the support people at AFWFilters were fantastic at helping us work it out. It ended up being rust in our water heater, which we replaced with a tank.
- Question : Is it safe for septic?Answer : Any water softener should be safe for septic. The salt replaces the iron at an ion level, so there is not that much salt in the softened water. If you are still concerned, call any local plumbing company and ask.
- Question : Will this softener help remove odors from water?Answer : I don’t know if it removed odors or not but I don’t have any issues with odors in my water.
