You can rotate it as many turns as you like, in either direction, for as long as you like.
- Question : Why does my Uno power up when I connect this encoder? Another brand encoder I have is connected identically and does not act this way.Answer : If you have 5v and 0v hooked up from your Uno, the encoder is shorting out the power. Try through a 220ohm resistor, then at least you will be limiting the current through the encoder and the Uno will stay alive.
