Skiing feature is NOT working well. It is recommended not to use for skiing. But happy with most of the scuba related tracking. Few small bugs are there with the mobile app and the diving-related screens.

Can you respond to social media messages via your mk1 watch if paired with your smartphone?

You can view the messages but you cannot respond to them, only with the phone that is paired to the watch.

Can it be used for golf also?

Yes, the Mk1 can load all the apps that the Fenix5 uses, so you can use the golf feature, hiking, running, GPS, and more.

Do you find the display to be bright enough for both underwater and bright days topside?

It does not emit any light unless you hit the light button. The display for on the surface can be downloaded off of the connect store to match a style that you like. I have yet to be unable to read the display. At night is the only time I have needed to use the light to see the display, whether it was above or underwater.

Are there any differences between the regular and deluxe version other than the titanium bezel and band?

No, they are the same except for the bezel and band.

$500 more for the metal watch band......seriously???

Yes, the metal band is made of titanium which is not cheap.

I assume it comes preloaded with North America maps. If so, can we install other region maps (Europe, Middle East and North Africa)?

Yes, it comes pre-loaded with maps of North America, and you can purchase and load additional maps via the Garmin Connect interface for an additional cost.

The Garmin Mk1 dive watch is a versatile product with a variety of functions including life tracking and sports tracking capabilities. Unfortunately, it has some limitations such as it cannot hold music files or respond to social media messages via the watch only. Additionally, the skiing feature is known to give false readings. Durability and battery life are positive features, but some sensors fail after a few dives. The mobile app is known to be buggy, but overall tracking is accurate. The display is visible in various lighting conditions, and the watch can be used for golf, hiking, running, and more. The deluxe version is identical to the regular version aside from the titanium bezel and band. Maps outside of the preloaded North American maps can be installed via Garmin Connect. This watch is perfect for diving, but it has some shortcomings that should be noted.
