Will a bubble wrapped 40" x 40" painting fit?

Uboxes 3 picture & mirror moving boxes says 3 pieces and then says 4 needed. How many pieces actually come with it?

It depends on the object you are packing. These flat pieces fit over each other. If you have a picture in a frame, one piece covers one 1/2, and a 2nd piece overlaps it. If it is a large picture, it might need 4 pieces, 2 on each side- top, and bottom; tape in the middle-across the middle, and down the center. From what I remember it is 12 boxes total, you would need 4 for each large piece cover 1/4 of the picture, on each corner. Where they overlap/meet in the center, you tape horizontally and vertically. You should be able to do 3 pictures with 12 boxes.

What size does each piece make up, please?

You have to use 4 boxes, applying one to each corner of the picture or mirror; if the picture is smaller, you might only need 2.

Is there a rating on the cardboard thickness?

They are very thick and you can use 2 or 4 of Lehman slide into onto corners. It is recommended to wrap all of them in shrink wrap, and very valuable ones in bubble wrap too. You can get more than one painting in each set of boxes.

My picture is 22 x 27, will these work? And also, do I need bubble wrap or is that provided?

These are bigger than what you need. Office Depot has a similar set for a max 30x40". Only the cardboard is provided, no bubble wrap.

Are we supposed to use the shipping box as one of the 12 pieces?

No, the pieces were individual and you fold them to fit joined so you have almost double coverage and sometimes more.

Is this box just for one picture only? I have 3 pictures to pack.

This is 12 pieces for 3 separate pictures with the size up to 40-inches x 60-inches.

It states will extend to 40 x 60. What would the finished package measure at the smallest?

It would depend on the size of the picture/mirror; you put one box on each corner so they overlap each other in the middle.
