It is really a case of how you work. The TSTAK is lighter weight and more versatile but not water proof. The tough system is water proof and more rugged and therefore somewhat less versatile. So think about how you plan to use the equipment. Both systems are very good at what they were designed to do and I think Dewalt was wise to make more than one system.

I am looking for answers to the 2-drawer box. How many compartments are in each drawer?. What are the dimensions of EACH COMPARTMENT?

I frequently remove 2 of the horizontal dividers in each of the drawers so each drawer has 3 longer compartments for screwdrivers, wrenches etc. It looks nice with 9 little compartments but you can’t really fit hand tools in small compartments like that. These TSAK 2-drawer stackables are awesome for your tools. Btw, Craftsman makes a compatible item that is RED/BLACK instead of YELLOW/BLACK. Basically the Exact same thing except for color. It’s stacks, fits, & locks the same with each other. I use both.

What are the dimensions of the inside of the drawer, in the deep drawer unit?

The internal length is about 42cm, the depth is about 29cm and then the height is about 23cm. I’m sorry about not being able to give exact sizes as the cases have little variations due to the closing clips, case handle and other minor moulding differences. They are not simply plain boxes with smooth sides, bottoms, inside or out if you understand me? Those sizes are without the optional lift out tool tray that sits inside at the top of the case. That tray is 6cm deep so that would lower the internal height if you kept it in the case itself. Hope this is of help to you. Becky

Are the drawers lockable?

On the drawers, no they do not have a slot to add a padlock, but the deep box, short box etc do.

Does this DWST17807 Flat Top come with the foam insert? I’ve seen a few review vids and such that say it does, but the description doesn’t say so.

The foam insert is a separate accessory that fits all the T-Stak boxes.

What is the height of the bottom compartment measure inside?

3 1/2 inches on the bottom. Top offers an additional inch. It’s good that it’s not too deep so that you can see all your tools. No digging.

What are the drawer dimensions?

Both drawers are 1-3/4 deep, with 1/8" clearance above the drawer side wall. Inside drawer dimension is 13-3/16 wide, by about 11" front to back (depending on how you consider the irregularity of the handle system) A drawer volume would be about 254 cubic inches if the handle didn’t protrude into the drawer area. Subtracting for the handle leaves about 240 cubic inches. The total cube of this drawer assembly is 16-3/4" wide by 12-3/8" deep (front to back) by 6-7/8" tall - which is about 1426 cubic inches. The usable drawer space is about 34% of the total cube - pretty low. So - don’t buy this unit thinking that you are getting a lot of drawer space - as you aren’t. You get a lot of bulk and weight to provide the ability to stack and lock this into the Tstak system - and two nice, but small drawers.

Do the drawers lock in place? If I tipped it over would the drawers slide out?

They lock in place. It has a release latch in order to pull each drawer out
