    Answer : You can use any size card, but it must be formatted in Fat32 format. If you transfer payloads larger than 4GB, the files will get corrupted. Fat32 is also slow, so a 256GB card can take several weeks to upload, and the GPS will take several minutes to read the whole library.
  • Question : Can it be run on aa/aaa batteries or does it require the rechargeable pack?
    Answer : GPSMAP 66i comes with a built-in rechargeable battery and is not accessible by the user.
  • Question : Can you use it for finding property boundaries?
    Answer : GPSMAP 66 can be used to get a position fix of greater accuracy, but it requires extra work on your part. You can enable RINEX logging on the unit and use PC software RTKLIB to post-process the log file to derive a position that can be accurate to less than a meter.

The Garmin GPSMAP 66i is a GPS handheld that also incorporates inReach satellite communication technology for text and email messaging using the Iridium Satellite Network. Garmin offers various monthly plans to meet all budgets. The device can be used without an InReach plan if the user does not intend to use the communication functions. The device has a built-in rechargeable battery that is not user-accessible and takes about 20-40 seconds for startup. The device can take onX chip and can be used to determine positioning with good accuracy. The device cover keeps the SOS button from being accidentally pressed. The GPS has a big price tag for outdated-looking technology but is well-made and accurate.
