Your Lysol turning the carpet green was a chemical reaction. I would use a carpet specific product for your carpet. Whatever you use, test in a less visible area, first.

Method Antibacterial Citron Cleaner is a good cleaning product, well-suited to the bathroom and other hard, non-porous surfaces that need a little extra love. The smell is fresh with a sweet citrus scent that lingers a little bit but is not overwhelming. It cleans well and is more gentle than other anti-bacterial cleaners.
