Just received this knife for Christmas and it has no lock and dangerous. Was it meant to look at and not use?

This knife has a 'liner lock' which locks the blade open during use. If you can't get the knife to lock, please place a couple drops of oil at the blade hinge point and then open and close the knife several times.
