You can go 25 deep, and 25-30 at the table. at 30 PSI it will pump 8.6 GPM. It will also depend on how steep the hill is. The 1/2 HP will just make it.

Does this pump come with all the parts that go down in the well - i.e. 'venturi' nozzle, foot valve, etc.?

Good morning, this is a shallow well pump, meaning the suction lift is maxed at 25’ and the Venturi and nozzle are installed in the casing. We can provide a foot valve at an additional cost of about $25. Best regards, Scott

Is this pump a suitable replacement for the goulds bf03s shallow well jet pump?

From my experience, a jet pump requires 2 pipes in and the 1 pipe output at the top. This pump has 1 pipe input. I would contact Gould directly or a local authorized dealer.

What is the difference between the gould J5 and the J5S?

J5S the S indicates shallow well, 25 feet or less lift. J5 is for deeper well.

Is this pump rated for potable water?

The Goulds JS series pumps are rated for potable water. These pumps are NSF/ANSI 61 & 372 listed for drinking water.
