Customer Questions & Answers

  • Question : What dishes can I use Yibin Suimiyacai in?
Answer : It is used in many famous dishes such as steamed salty pork belly (Han Sao Bai) and Yibin flaming noodles.
  • Question : What is the net weight of the package?
Answer : The net weight of the package is 230g or 8.11oz.
  • Question : Is the date on the package the expiration date?
Answer : No, the date on the top right of the package back is the product date, not the expiration date.
  • Question : What specific dried vegetable is this?
Answer : It is not dried, it is semi-dried pickled mustard greens/kale/cabbage like mixture. Closer to mustard greens and kale than to cabbage. Hope this helps.
  • Question : How long did you have to use these before they reached expiration?
Answer : It was good until 2019 and I purchased a few months ago. Sorry I cannot read the month on the package now that it is open. Having said that, if this product was kept in the fridge, I would feel safe eating it beyond the best used by date as it is salted and fermented. As long as no mold or off smell is present, I am sure it would be still safe to eat.
  • Question : How long does this product keep in the refrigerator after it's opened?
Answer : I use this to make Dan Dan noodles, I keep mine is in a pottery jar with a loose fitting lid in the fridge. It is over 2 years old and has not spoiled, and tastes just fine. For home cooking this makes about 4- 5 batches of noodles. The oil is a neutral oil, soybean or canola?
  • Question : I see “fat” on the ingredient list, what type of fat is used?
Answer : On my package it does not list fat in the ingredients, however it does show fat content in the nutrition information , as in fat 0g 0% saturated fat as0.2g 1%. Might I suggest that you contact the manufacturer at +86-831-2381003 ,for further information, it's just dried vegetables in vegetable oil.
  • Question : Is this the same as yibin yacai?
Answer : Yes, it is the same. Rgds, Mark

Sichuan Yibin Suimi Yacai Co. Ltd Pickled Mixed Vegetables Editorial Review

This product is a semi-dried pickled mustard greens/kale/cabbage mixture imported from China, also known as yibin yacai. There was initially confusion surrounding the expiry dates, but the product is not expired as there are two dates, one indicating the package date and the other the best before date. While some customers found the texture unpleasant, others found it to be a flavorful addition to salads, soups, and skillet dishes. It is also an essential ingredient for Dan Dan noodles. The product can last for a few months in the fridge, but it is advised to discard the product if there is an off smell or mold present. The price may vary between different retailers, but it is a rare ingredient to find in Chinese supermarkets outside of China.

Pros

  • Adds a unique and savory flavor to dishes
  • A necessary ingredient for Dan Dan noodles
  • Can last for a few months in the fridge
  • Good price compared to buying in a small Asian grocery store

Cons

  • Texture may be unpleasant for some customers
  • Expiry dates may cause confusion
  • Some customers received expired products
