Louie, I have installed the Culligan WH-HD200-C and had very little water pressure drop. The lower the micron number, the more it will affect your pressure.

Should it come with a spare ring? What does each filter do?

The unit comes with one O-ring but not a spare. The filters are basically 4-1/2" x 10". A 5-micron polypropylene filter is used for sediment and rust. There are many filters available so Culligan cannot determine which one to include.

Is a flow rate vs pressure drop graph available for this unit with a 5 micron element installed?

There is no graph available but from a practical point of view, installation has not resulted in a practical difference with respect to pressure drop.

Can you change the filter without having water spray everywhere?

Yes. Set the valve to bypass and press the red pressure relief button to remove pressure still in the canister before unscrewing the canister.

What is the pressure drop across the filter? What kind of a flow can one expect if multiple showers are being used simultaneously?

For a 50 micron and a 5-micron filter installed in series, there was no more than a 2-3 pound drop over 6 months. Cannot answer the question regarding multiple showers.

What size filter can this unit accept? Can it accept non-Culligan filters?

Any 10" x 4.5" filter should fit. A 10" x 2.5" filter can also be used with less capacity. It can accept non-Culligan filters.

Can you bypass the filter or just shut off the water to it?

Yes, just set the piping with a bypass route and a shut-off valve. The filter unit has its own on/off valve.

Can this be used with hot water?

No, this cannot be used with hot water.

The Culligan Whole House HD200C Water Filter system is a great product that provides clean water for everyday use. The product is easy to install, and the filter could be changed without any difficulties. It is essential to check the water pressure before installing the filter and choosing the right filter rating out of the many options available. The filter works great in removing the larger rust and particles from water. However, it will not change the taste of the water nor is it for use with hot water to get into the filter. The unit has received positive reviews, where many customers find it easy to install, notice a change in the quality of their water, and have had no issues with the filter. Some customers have installed Shark Bites to avoid soldering and torching. There were some negative reviews about difficulties with the filter covers being too tight and leaks. The handle to rotate the filter could be challenging to turn, and the Red button to bleed pressure seems to get water all over the unit. The unit is also clear, so algae tends to grow, and some customers never got the little filter replacement light to work. Some customers would have opted for a different unit in retrospect due to the useless knob functions.
