- Question : Does this phone offer programmable silent mode where calls come in but do not ring?Answer : You have options: 1) Quiet Mode allows you to silence all sounds for up to 12 hours; 2) You can turn the base and handset ringers off. The base and each handset have independent ringer control.
- Question : Does this phone have talking caller ID and different ring tones?Answer : I haven't found talking caller ID yet but one nice feature is that you can listen to your messages on any handset. Yes, it does have different ring tones for each handset. Colors are great too.
- Question : Can you turn the volume off the answering machine and still have it answer call?Answer : Frank - Turn the Call Screening feature via the handset MENU if you don't want to hear the answering system while it records messages. You can also turn base and handset ringers off.

VTech Landline Phones Editorial Review
The VTech CS6529-4 is a cordless phone system that features an Eco mode to optimize battery performance, intercom capabilities, and 50-name and number phone book directory. However, it does not have a call block feature, nor does it have a battery backup in case of power interruption. Its batteries can last indefinitely as long as they are in the charger when not in use. The LED screen may be too dark to read, and the sound quality is poor. Nevertheless, it's easy to set up and convenient for multiroom phone service. Based on reviews, some customers had issues with the phone system's operation. One disadvantage of the phone is the poor battery life.
