Answer : Will only work with RGB inputs
    • Question : What type of consoles will it NOT work with?
Answer : Will NOT work with an Nintendo N64, Non-RGB modded Nintendo NES, or a NTSC Gamecube as these are both S-Video and NOT RGB
    • Question : Will I need to buy an additional cable to go to my Commodore Amiga computer? If so, which one?
Answer : If your Commodore Amiga outputs an RGB signal, it can be connected to the OSSC using a regular RGB SCART cable. If it connects via VGA, you can use that as well. More specific information on your Amiga would be helpful.
    • Question : Does this work for original/unmodded Xbox to 4K TV?
Answer : Yes, it works with an original Xbox component cable. However, you will need an RCA audio to 3.5mm jack connector since the OSSC has a single jack for component audio.
    • Question : Is this compatible with JP-21 SCART cables that have a different pin layout than PAL SCART?
Answer : If the pin layout of the JP-21 SCART cable is different, it may not be compatible. It is recommended to check the OSSC forums for more information.

Answer : No, we do not have an adapter for that.
    • Question : Why is this version more expensive compared to another one that looks similar?
Answer : The OSSC is an open-source project, so there are different manufacturers producing it. Our Kaico version is known for its quality and reliability, and it also comes with additional features like a remote. There might be other versions available at lower prices, but they may not provide the same quality.
    • Question : Does the 0.88 firmware update work with this version?
Answer : Since this is a knockoff OSSC, there is no guarantee that the firmware update will work as intended. It is recommended to contact the manufacturer for compatibility information.
    • Question : Does the audio output through the 3.5mm jack and HDMI work simultaneously when headphones are connected?
Answer : Yes, the audio output will work through both the 3.5mm jack and HDMI simultaneously when headphones are connected.
    • Question : Can I play PS1 game discs on a PS2 using component cables and the OSSC without encountering a black screen on my Sanyo LCD 2017 TV?
Answer : The compatibility of playing PS1 game discs on a PS2 depends on the specific game and PS2 model. As for the OSSC, it supports component connection and provides flexibility in adjusting settings, so you should be able to resolve any issues by adjusting the OSSC settings.
    • Question : Will a Dell Ultrasharp 2007FB work with the OSSC?
Answer : Yes, the OSSC is compatible with the Dell Ultrasharp 2007FB. It provides better results compared to cheap SCART to HDMI converters and offers options to adjust the picture according to your preferences.

Kaico Edition OSSC Open Source Scan Converter 1.6 with SCART, Component and VGA to HDMI for Retro Gaming. Line Multiplier upscaler Perfect for Zero lag RGB Retro Gaming

The OSSC is a line-doubler that takes SCART input and has no real input lag. It can be tricky to use with some consoles and many HDTVs, but it delivers a nice picture and has audio of high quality. Customers should expect some settings tweaking, but it is fairly straightforward to use. The unit is worth the $200 for those who want retro consoles to be compatible with modern TVs. The downside is that the remote control can be temperamental and is similar to a TV remote; besides, setting it up takes some soldering skills, mod kits, and SCART cables. The OSSC is best for those who have experience with setting up retro consoles on modern TVs, as it can be a bit finicky with some input devices. However, for those who have a compatible console, it is a great device that offers excellent results.

    Pros

    • Produces a very high-quality picture
    • The audio output is excellent
    • Setup is relatively straightforward
    • No input lag

    Cons

    • Can be fiddly to use with some HDTVs
    • Compatible with only some consoles
    • The setup requires certain hardware components and cable fittings which may need soldering experience
    • The remote is often temperamental
