These 12-inch acoustic foam tiles are effective in absorbing noise and useful for soundproofing rooms. One customer found that they were successful in blocking out noise from a neighboring apartment, however, they needed to double or triple layer the tiles and use additional sound blankets. The tiles shed small synthetic fibers which were annoying, but not hazardous to breathe in. Customers could use a utility knife to cut and saw the tiles, and they could also insulate walls to a certain extent. Some found success in using command strips to hang up the tiles, while others used a ceiling tile cement to affix them to the wall. The product weighs close to 4.73lb in total and is not recommended for painting.
