Customer Questions & Answers

  • Question : What can I use CorAffix for?
Answer : You can use CorAffix for attaching stony corals, gorgonians, and other sessile invertebrates in natural positions on live rock in aquariums, as well as for attaching coral frags in coral culturing.
  • Question : Can I use CorAffix with AquaStik?
Answer : Yes, you can use CorAffix with AquaStik to attach larger coral heads.
  • Question : What is the recommended process for using CorAffix?
Answer : First, put freshly mixed AquaStik on the live rock before applying CorAffix.
  • Question : Can you apply it to one piece out of water, then mate it to the second piece underwater?
Answer : Yes you may........but here is the issue, all glues of this type have a tendency to scab over and it lessens the bonding to the surface. You need to add enough glue that once it scabs you can still put it in the water and break that scab as you try to fasten it to the rock or what ever you are trying to adhere to. Of the glues I have tried to date, this one has a fairly descent response. This site has a good video on the different glues and how to apply them: www.bulkreefsupply.com/
  • Question : I do not have an aquarium, I am looking for a glue I can use for my rock art. Glueing beach pebbles together. Would this adhesive work?
Answer : Yes. It would work perfect.
  • Question : Can i use this to glue my aluminum led light brackets to my plastic tank hood?
Answer : It is the exact same thing as super glue, except it's a somewhat thicker, so it should work for your application. However, I have found in doing customization on my aquariums that silicone sealant does a much better job of adhering pieces together - especially when of different materials. Hope this helps.
  • Question : Can this be used to adhere a pvc pipe inside a rubber grommet?
Answer : This is gel super glue. Silicone may adheres to rubber better than super glue.
  • Question : Can I use this alone, without the AquaStik epoxy to secure plugs to live rock?
Answer : Yes you can. It works well with small plugs if you cut off the nub first. Hold it for about 30 seconds and you should be fine. be generous with the amount you put on the plug.
  • Question : Will it cure under water
Answer : Absolutely, this stuffed is awesome. Just hold it there for 5 seconds and it permanent
  • Question : will this glue affect any water parameters? specifically phosphates?
Answer : Did extensive glue and a few days later almost all corals closed (leathers). I do not know where the problem was, but it was certainly because of the glue.
  • Question : Can I use this to glue live rock? And you put on the frags in the water or out of the water
Answer : Yes you can! But is better the one line clay to glue rocks. Take out the frag to glue it then put it back on.
  • Question : Does this work in freshwater tanks too? I'm trying to build rock caves for loaches & need it to prevent a cave-in in case bigger fish bump into them
Answer : I think a 2 part epoxy putty might be more suitable for that, but to answer your question, it will work in fresh or saltwater.

Two Little Fishies Cyanoacrylate Adhesives Editorial Review

This product is a gel-like super glue that can be used to glue different materials together. It can be applied underwater and cures in seconds. It can also be used for art projects such as gluing beach pebbles together. While some have reported success using this product to glue live rock and plugs, others have experienced problems such as coral closures, difficulty squeezing the bottle, and inConsistency in the product's effectiveness. The glue may also scab over when not used quickly enough, reducing its bonding strength. Overall, it seems that this product can be effective for some applications, but may not work for all. Customers may want to Consider alternatives such as silicone sealant or 2-part epoxy putty for certain projects.

Pros

  • Can be applied underwater and cures quickly
  • Good for small plugs
  • Comes with a lid that seals well
  • Can be used for art projects

Cons

  • InConsistent effectiveness
  • Can scab over and lose bonding strength
  • May not work well for all applications
  • Difficult to squeeze bottle for some customers
