I am not exactly familiar with what the MK2 OBD port looks like but if it happens to be the same 16-pin trapezoidal form as is commonly found in OBD2 equipped vehicles then no adapter is needed.

This cable (VAG KKL) receives and transmits data via the K-line whereas MK6 Jetta utilize the CAN bus instead. You would need to find a CAN based hardware interface like Ross Tech's HEX+CAN instead.
