Calix Modems 844G Editorial Review
CenturyLink Calix 844G Wireless 2.4 GHZ 5G Dual WiFi Internet Modem GigaCenter offers user-friendly local admin features and efficient remote management for tech support, making it a suitable option for home networking. It provides excellent wireless coverage for most homes when installed centrally, although users reported issues with missing hardware components, like the power cord, affecting usability. The device supports dual-band frequencies, allowing for optimized performance with 802.11ac standards, ensuring reliable connectivity for various devices. However, to achieve higher speeds near your subscription limits, connecting to the 5GHz network is crucial as the 2.4GHz band has lower maximum speeds. Users noted the intelligence in its setup, able to handle multiple mesh unit extensions, although only in a star topology configuration.
