The Makita RT0701C 1-1/4 HP Compact Router is a powerful router that cuts well and is able to use better quality bits from local hardware stores. The variable speed and depth gauge allow for diversity in the shop. It is compact, handy and great for small DIY projects such as hinges, and doesn’t splinter plywood, making it a great router for beginners or those looking for a starter kit. The router works best when tightly attached to a router table as the fence and guide that come with it slip easily, potentially causing destruction to the piece being worked on.
