They are two separate switches. Mine only runs one thing at a time, either the light or the fan. Both won't run together.

This item is not waterproof but it can be used under an RV awning.

Works at same time, but light and fan diminished to the point of being usless. Used separate, light is fairly bright, but fan is still quiet and a light puff of air that I couldn't feel. zero white noise.

Does this item come with a hook? Received mine today with no hook?

The hook is actually a part of the handle. If you put the handle in the up position as if you were going to carry it, you will see a piece that does not belong on the inside of the handle. Push that up and the hook will come out.
