Question : What is the package weight of the product?
Answer : The package weight of the product is 8 Ounces.
Question : What type of power protection does it offer?
Answer : It offers Type 2 AC Power protection.
Question : Does it have LED status indication?
Answer : Yes, it has LED status indication.
Question : Why is there only one view of the product? Do I not see the pigtail wires? Does it snap into place like a breaker?
Answer : It has 4 pigtail wires and does not snap in. 2 pigtails tie to the breaker, one wire to the neutral and one to the ground bar. It is mounted in one of the knockouts on the main breaker panel. You might have to cut an opening in the wall. If this is installed on an existing breaker panel, it is recommended to pay extra bucks for the cover plate.
Question : Can this be located on the inside of the breaker panel, provided there is enough space for it?
Answer : It is suggested to mount outside the panel as it is less effective when placed inside. However, if there is enough space to mount it inside, it can be mounted. It has to be mounted as close to the main breaker as possible so that it takes the blast before it hits the other circuits in the house.
Question : What is the length of the wires that come with the unit?
Answer : The 4 wire leads are around 13 inches long.
Question : Is this the best way to protect the whole house and all the AV equipment?
Answer : Yes, it is the best way to protect the whole house as it will fry before the surge gets to other circuits. It should be mounted as close to the main breaker as possible. Once it is tripped, it has to be replaced.
Question : Will this unit protect the home from EMP or CME?
Answer : It can protect against E3, but it is unsure if this specific model can protect.
Question : Can I connect this to a 40A range circuit breaker if my electrical panel is full?
Answer : No, you need a 50A breaker dedicated to this device. Talk to an electrician to see if you can combine 15A circuits to make room.
Question : Does it matter where in the panel the 2-pole breaker goes?
Answer : No, the new 50A breaker can be placed anywhere in the panel, as long as there is enough space. The Eaton Load Centers come with an Ultra and 50A CB already installed, with the 50A CB placed at the bottom left position.
Question : What is the clamping voltage for this product?
Answer : This device can pass 600V at the device and 25V for each inch of installation wiring. A typical installation uses 12-18 inches of wiring so from 900 to 1050+ volts of surge energy will pass into the building after installing this device.
Question : I have installed LED light fixtures in my house, all on dimmers. When larger appliances kick on, the lights dim. Will this help smooth out the power?
Answer : No, this product is installed to ground surges coming in through the mains. As such, it will not help smooth out power for LED lights on dimmers. Check for overloaded circuits, compromised connections, failing breakers, and inadequate supply through the breaker/fuse box, among other things, to resolve the issue.
