Hi, this is exactly what you need for your project. It measures as low as 0.05lb. and up to 15 lb. with graduations in 0.05 lb. I like it! Buy!!!

How long does the battery last? What size battery is it?

I have had mine since Sept. 2011 and it still has the original battery. I would imagine it would take a round flat lithium battery.

Although I have not tested the accuracy by using two or three different gauges, it appears to be a very accurate gauge.

Will it put air in ball?

No, it’s designed to only measure accurate air pressure within the ball.

Will this gauge measure a low pressure device (5-7 psi) that uses a 'valve stem' type inlet?

We use it as a tire gauge by screwing the brass insides of a tubeless valve stem into the gauge and then a short rubber hose and a tire chuck on the end of the hose. It has been the best low pressure tire gauge we have ever used I can highly recommend it. Our tires are run at about 4 psi but the gauge will go to 15psi max if you need to.

I am getting and odd measurement of 1.8.8.8 on a new volleyball, can anyone help?

When you first turn it on you get that reading. Are you waiting for the meter to go to 0.00 before you check the pressure?
