    Answer : The size of the heater is 20” X 1.4” Diameter.

    Answer : Yes, it can, and is recommended, be set horizontally.

    Answer : I've got a 300w heater in my 75 gallon tank and it's set to around 86 degrees and has it heated up to within 85.5 Fahrenheit.
  • Question : How would this handle a ~200 gal tank outdoors where it can get into the 20's (F) occasionally?
    Answer : I don't believe it will. I had it in a 175 gallon tank in my greenhouse (unheated) and it got down below 50 degrees in the tank when outside temps were 20 degrees. It has a good thermostat and you could use 2 of them to be on the safe side.
  • Question : Is this an adjustable heater?
    Answer : Yes. It is adjustable and can be calibrated as per instructions.
  • Question : Can it be used with a small tank?
    Answer : If you want to place something as small as a 25–50 watt heater straight up and down, then go right ahead so long as all of its submerged in the water.
  • Question : How to check if the heater is working properly?
    Answer : You can tell if it's on by the little amber light that sits about midway down the unit. If it's on supposedly it's working. If you really want to be sure, go out and buy a thermometer.
  • Question : Is this Eheim Jager heater still manufactured in Germany?
    Answer : I've bought 10 EHEIM heaters over the last few years, the latest ordered in Oct. 2015 - all have 'Made in Germany' printed on the box.
  • Question : What is the temperature range that can be regulated?
    Answer : The box says the range is 65 to 93F.
  • Question : Can it be used with a non-glass tank?
    Answer : It should be fine. You would not want the heater part to touch the plastic, but otherwise it should be ok.
  • Question : Does the dial on this heater have numbers for easy temperature adjustments?
    Answer : Yes.
