This seems like a great idea but $40 for a lunch box? Plus accessories? Seems a bit bonkers ya?

I can't find lunch boxes that match up to this box. You don't need a lunch bag. If you get other lunch boxes $30 and with a quality lunch bag $20-30. That's not including utensils $10. This is just for cold packing lunch boxes. You should need to buy a thermos to pack hot food that's probably another $20. To find one that design for little kids to open easily and that can pack hot food... I think it's worth it.

Does it really take 1-2 months for the product to ship?

No it doesnt took that long to ship from my store

How can I request labels for lunch box? I tossed the card that came with the lunch box.

Does it has only one section to keep the food warm or can the entire bento box thermos material?

Just the large square has the thermos but the rest keeps all the foods temperature pretty. The seal is pretty good on it and when I put a cold juice pouch in the side part it keeps it nice and cool.

Does it fit inside a backpack?

I think it depends on the size of backpack. I put this lunch box to the lunch bag, which I also put the ice pads inside

Will these fit in a Pottery Barn Classic lunchbox?

You can squeeze them into the classics with no room for anything else. They fit better into the pottery barn cold pack lunch boxes.

How does the cold/cool area stay cold? Is there a spot for ice packs?

No need for ice packs. Just the thermal cont. just needs to be 'charged '. If hot sit in hot h20. Then add hot food. Cold entree I overnight in freezer. In am it's cold and ready for entree for the day. I keep the box in fridge so the whole box is cold too. It is double insulated and works well. Cleaning is simple under warm soapy water. Back in fridge and ready for next day.
