- Question : Is it good for outside too?Answer : Absolutely! When I was researching this product, I saw people using it for mailboxes, house letters, outdoor lights, etc. In fact, we painted our house numbers with it months ago and they look great. I think you'll love this product BUT . . . don't buy it with this nozzle!!!! The nozzle does not work very well. You would like this product more if you buy it in a can with the regular nozzle, then buy one of Rustoleum's clip-on nozzles to use it with. MUCH better operating and way less wasteful. Trust me on this one! I wasted nearly a whole can of paint with this stupid nozzle. It sputtered all over the place. Lots of reviewers warned me, but I didn't listen and sure enough they were right. The paint itself is great, though.
- Question : If I use this to paint a bicycle, do I need to sand the old paint off first?Answer : You do not need to sand the old paint off. Just make sure the old paint is still on good. If you are able sand the surface with a fine grit sandpaper to assure the new paint sticks better. Also feather out areas after removing peeling paint so it adheres well and looks good when done. Hope this helps.
- Question : Can this be used around a heated surface?Answer : I used it on a 1200lb wheelwrights anvil made into a patio table..it has a 12 inch hole in the middle that I put a small Weber grill...no problem so far
- Question : Would this cover scratches on a black stainless fridge?Answer : We sprayed it onto a paper plate, then used a tiny paint brush to paint it on our very small scratch, and it looks much better. The color match for our LG black stainless fridge is very good.
- Question : I am trying to use this on a pendant light. The hammered effect is terribly uneven, and is there any way to spray a sloping item so it doesn't run?Answer : Make several light coats. Let it dry between coats. Don't spray till it runs. If there is a run use dry brush to smooth it before it dries bumpy.
- Question : Can I use it to cover the 5inch*6inch*4.5inch scratch of my old hyundai car ?Answer : Since matching an automotive paint can be very disappointing, I would suggest that you first try some on a piece of metal, allow it to dry and then hold it near the paint of the car to see if the color and type of paint matches well enough to satisfy you.There are some companies, such as DupliColor, which offer exact match auto paints at many automotive parts stores. If the scratch does not go all the way through the existing paint, you might try the 'Clear Coat' scratch repair kits which renews the clear coat finish and in many cases makes the scratch almost invisible.
- Question : Is this oil based or water based?Answer : Oil based. The sprayer is absolutely terrible. You will end up with paint all over your hand.
- Question : I'd like to use this to paint pvc pipes for a diy clothing rack. would the hammered black color work without priming or surface prep (like sanding)?Answer : I am no expert, but if I was going to paint this project I would say no real prep work except cleaning the pvc pipe first. Make sure that each coating dries well before next application. I would put a clear coat on, then let set well. I do love this spray paint.
- Question : Can it go over varnished furniture without sanding? For instance a brand new wood vanity that has a light finish.Answer : Great question. It is best to lightly sand and clean the surface and then apply 2 or 3 light coats of paint.
