Gamewright's Shifting Stones is an amazing family game that combines decision-making with strategy. Players pick cards and try to achieve the desired pattern by flipping the shifting stones over or by switching the position of 2 adjacent shifting stones while others are doing the same. It's a beautifully designed game that is easy to learn, thanks to the simple rules, spacial manipulations, and chunky tiles. The game is recommended for ages 8 and up but can also be played with younger children as "partners." The deck is shuffled and the board randomized for replayability, while the solo mode is ideal for guiding a child through the game's choices. It brings everyone off devices and plays like an app game while engaging players at the table. The game also comes with wonderful components and makes an excellent gift. Players are better off getting a good size lazy susan to play the game, though, to make it easier for each person to see the board in the right direction.
