Would this work as a universal wideband O2 sensor i could cut the connector off and use in a car?

As long as it's a wideband and not a narrow band you truly need it will work however if you can help it, you should try to get one that has the correct connector on it. O2 sensors are very sensitive and need very good conditions so if you feel confident that you can do a good job then go for it. Make sure the wire count is correct first.

Not sure, I ordered it for my 98 Turbo Civic build because my Aem wideband had failed. It worked for my car not sure of the wrx

I bought this sensor to replace my fouled out AEM wideband LSU 4.9 sensor so i can observe my AF/R. Unfortunately i dont know if i got a bad sensor or what, but this sensor could not read my AF/R. Did not work out for me with the sensor jumping all over the place. Bought one from AEM and everything is back to bormal again with the AF/R.
