For example, from the top of a baseboard? I do not know of any tool that will prevent the caulk from peeling away the paint that it is attached to, or the top layer of paper of the drywall, if the caulk was applied before the paint. The best way to reduce damage is to score the top edge of the caulk, where it meets the drywall, with a sharp, razor knife, before peeling it away. When you apply the new colt, it will cover the area left by the old caulk.
- Question : Can this be used to take of excess silicone sealant or is it only for silicone caulking specifically?Answer : Sealant is usually applied in much thinner layers, so a fresh razor blade often works well once it has set. This tool is most useful for thicker layers, both application and removal.
