Introducing the Celestron StarSense Explorer DX 102AZ Smartphone App-Enabled Telescope. This innovative telescope is revolutionizing the way we explore the night sky. With the StarSense App, you can now easily find stars, planets, and more using your smartphone.
Gone are the days of struggling with complicated star charts and imprecise planetarium apps. The StarSense Explorer makes locating objects in the night sky a breeze. Simply dock your smartphone in the unique StarSense dock, launch the app, and align your phone to the telescope's optics.
In just a quick 2-minute procedure, the app generates a list of celestial objects that are currently visible. With arrows appearing onscreen, the app will guide you as you move the telescope. When you've lined up with your desired object, the bullseye on the app turns green, indicating that it's ready to view.
It's like having your own personal tour guide of the night sky. The StarSense Explorer is compatible with most modern smartphones, including iPhone 6 and up and most Android devices manufactured since 2016. No matter what smartphone you have, you can enjoy the benefits of this telescope.
What sets the StarSense Explorer apart is its patented StarSense Sky Recognition Technology. By using your smartphone and this innovative technology, the telescope can accurately determine its position in the night sky. It matches star patterns detected overhead with its internal database, just like satellites use in orbit.
Other astronomy apps may claim to help you find objects, but they rely solely on the phone's gyros and accelerometers, which aren't as accurate. The StarSense Explorer is not just for beginners. It's also a great tool for astronomy enthusiasts.
Whether you're stargazing or interested in astrophotography, this telescope has you covered. With its portable and easy-to-use design, you can take it anywhere and capture stunning images with your smartphone. Upgrade your stargazing experience with the Celestron StarSense Explorer DX 102AZ Smartphone App-Enabled Telescope.

The Celestron DX 102AZ refractor telescope comes with a tripod and mount with attachable smartphone dock. It is claimed that this scope is an excellent entry-level telescope with a high quality 102mm (4") diameter lens that allows clear and detailed images of the moon and planets. The refractor design requires no maintenance or collimation. For first time users, it is recommended to start out the app in night mode to avoid issues and the star sense app seems to work much better in astrophotography. The tripod is a bit flimsy and the fork mount is made out of cheap plastic, but the slow motion controls functions well. The scope shakes badly after focusing or movement and you will have to wait a few seconds for things to calm down. The eyepieces provided are typical of what you will find in lower cost scopes, however upgrading to Celetron X-Cel eyepieces can make an amazing difference. The StarSense app performs well, and is praised by many but some have difficulty connecting it with their phones. The app also has some issues when trying to align during the daytime, but starting the app in night mode helps some people. Overall, this model is an affordable, easy-to-use telescope great for first-time users, but a bigger, tracking telescope may be a better choice for serious astro buffs.
