The Wool Pressing Mat is a handy tool for quilters and sewers that eliminates the need to turn fabric over and press the backside. Made of 100% New Zealand wool and manufactured in China, the mat is thick and sturdy, allowing heat to penetrate the fabric for efficient pressing. It comes with a free silicone rest for the iron, which is a nice addition. However, the mat emits a strong wooly odor while ironing, technically it’s the natural lanolin that gives wool its water resistance. This can be unpleasant and doesn't go away quickly. It’s recommended to avoid steam to prevent the mat from getting too damp, but it can withstand high heat, although it's best to test it on scrap fabric first. The mat can also be used as a mat for needle felting. Note that the dimensions advertised on Amazon are incorrect, and the mat is actually 17" x 13.5".
