Has anybody tested a section of hair while the remainder of the toner/developer mix sat to make sure you like the processes color before applying all?

We always advise consumers to perform a strand test on a 1-2 inch section of hair with a teaspoon amount of product before coloring the rest of the hair. Do not mix all of the product at once for the test as the product needs to be used immediately after mixing, only mix a sample amount for the strand test.

Can i mix two different colors?

Yes, you can mix two shades, as long as they are in the same product line. Be sure to perform a strand and patch test first.

Can I use T18 after using T28 to get a lighter result?

Our Wella Color Charm Liquid Permanent Toner works best on hair that has been pre-lightened (bleached) to a pale yellow shade. Our Color Charm Liquid Permanent Toner will not be able to properly lighten or tone hair that already has toner applied to it, but most likely deposit a purple/gray tone. If you applied T28 but want to go lighter, lighten the hair with lightener 9such as bleach for hair) before processing with T18. We also recommend performing a strand test on a 1-2 inch section of hair with a teaspoon amount of toner and two teaspoons of developer (1:2 mixing ratio) to test the color result.

Just purchased this, its clear. the sallys t18 comes out of the bottle purple. did i get a dud bottle?

Mine was clear too, never used the one from Sally’s personally. I don’t think it’s a dud but I think this is more similar to a mild lightening hair dye than a typical purple or violet toner. It’ll work great for all over blonde but not multi toned hair. I have highlighted hair and thought this “toner” would just brighten my light pieces but it also pulled my natural dark brown pieces to a dark auburn. Beware.
