- Question : Can you attach a leash to it?Answer : You won't be able to walk your cat on a leash because the shirt is too relaxing. You'll have to carry your cat.
- Question : Will the Thundershirt help if a cat screams and cries all the way to the vet and undergoes terrible stress?Answer : Probably. My cat has the cat version of Alzheimer's. When he starts howling at the top of his lungs, I put him in the shirt he stops howling and flops over. He seems OK for a while after that and I take the shirt off after about 15 minutes. This cat becomes Catzilla when taken to the vet and the shirt reduces the screaming and conniption fits by about 50%. It was worth the money.
- Question : Could you please list the measurements of the shirt; the width when the flaps are open, and the length of the flaps from collar to back?Answer : I bought a medium sized unit to fit my 12 pound cat. It FIT fine but increased his anxiety to the point I gave it to a friend. It fit and worked marvelously for her kitty.
- Question : Will the large fit a 17 pound cat? Would a small dog shirt fit better?Answer : I bought a Large cat thundershirt for my 17 1/2 pound cat. His chest is 22 inches, but the distance from the neck straps to the abdominals straps is not long enough for him, so instead of covering some of his back and abdomen, as in the photos, it is all bunched up just behind the front legs, so he is not calm, but angry. I tried giving him eye ointment, and he continually tried to bite me and scratch me. He was NOT calm. I would love to know if the dog sizes are proportional to cats, or if it would still be a problem with the fit, for my extra large cat.
- Question : I have a Maine Coon that is approx 10 lbs - the medium should work, correct? Still doing the intro with the other cats after almost 2 months.Answer : As far as I can tell that size should work for you. Our 10-pound female burmese (skinny) cat used a small, but if you think there will be growth, since Maine Coons become bigger than that, a medium will help -- they are adjustable. The thunder shirts hold a kitty pretty tightly, so be aware that the contraction makes a cat frozen in one spot. Don't expect to put your kitty onto the bed with the shirt on because they aren't able to jump down.
- Question : My cat chest and belly is about 20 upper chest to belly and 21 in the lower flubber (lower belly area) will this fit him? SIZE LARGEAnswer : I would buy the size that is right for your cat's weight ... if he is 13lbs or more, consider the Large ... if he is really big (like 20lbs+), consider a Dog size Small ...
