The Philips Carina is a versatile machine that can make espresso shots, coffee, and cappuccinos. The machine can accept whole beans or pre-ground coffee. It also has a rinse feature that automatically cleans the machine. Keep in mind that the hopper is designed to accept whole beans, however refrain from using beans that are too oily as it could damage the machine. The steam wand can be tricky to put together correctly or have the internal component move out of position. It is crucial to pay attention to the metal sleeve and the internal component as it may cause hot milk to come out instead of foam. The instruction manual is not very helpful, and there's really not much in the way of troubleshooting. The Philips Carina is relatively affordable, easy to use, and it has basic functions perfect for everyday use. The self-adjustment feature may seem a bit overkill as it requires 100-150 espressos before making any difference. The coffee produced from the machine may have lesser body as compared to other machines, resulting in a watered-down shot.
