- Question : No junction box in my garage ceiling, wires come through small hole in ceiling & connect to existing fluorescent fixture. Do I need jnctn box?Answer : Yes the wires come through a small hole on the back center of fixture. There are no punch knock outs, the led bar mounts directly down the middle inside the fixture.
- Question : I replaced my Florissant kitchen lights with these but it's too bright. Does anyone know if I could put a dimmer switch on them.Answer : The spec sheet says it's non-dimmable. It will probably work on a dimmer but you risk significantly reducing the life of the light. I have some LED puck lights in my kitchen that are non-dimmable and I have them hooked to a dimmer. If I run them at anything less than 100% they work but they start buzzing. Needless to say I keep them at 100% pretty much all the time.
- Question : Does the warm white light selection for this light have a true warm light? I do not want harsh fluorescent or halogen affect that hurts my eyes.Answer : The 2700K warm light model I got for my office doesn't hurt my eyes like some intensive LED/Halogen sources do. The light is indeed warm. But it is also quite bright. If you stand under it and look right at it, it does make you squint a bit until your eyes adjust. I have 2 of these 2700K models in a small-ish 9' x 10' office as the only lighting. They are QUIET, come on very quickly and provide plenty of warm and bright lighting. Like some others, I do wish the design and the lens provided a slightly wider spread of light. But overall I'm pleased with these and they were a good value for the price. I DO NOT miss the old noisey fluorescent fixtures they replaced.
- Question : How many led linear tubes are in this light?Answer : Hi, The FMLWL 24 840 does not contain any linear tubes or bulbs inside the fixture. Instead, it has an integrated LED module and driver.
- Question : Please describe the difference between bright versus cool versus warmAnswer : It's all in the color of the light. In easy to understand terms - think of the LED's that are an obnoxious bright white almost blue. It has to do with the wavelength of the light being emitted from the bulb. Some people prefer different colors. Soft white = 2700K-3000K. Bright/Cool white = 3500K-4100K & Daylight = 5000K-6500K. The higher the degrees Kelvin, the whiter the color. Older florescent bulbs were typically lower on the Kelvin scale.
- Question : Is this a direct replacement for the fmlvl 42 840 fixture? thanks!!!Answer : I’m not sure. I installed mine in new construction.
- Question : is this returnable in unopened package?Answer : Idk most electric parts or not
- Question : can i add on other lights?Answer : not that easily. I had to drill a hole in the end cap and extend the wiring. they were not designed to be ganged, but should have been!
- Question : Can I use my previously installed motion-sensing switch?Answer : Assuming it's just a standard universal motion-sensing switch wired in series before the light, yes.
