No...I've had mine for 6 months...its 2/3rd's still full and is good to go...looks a bit darker but so does the bottle in fridge. Just another lil helper..I didn't have small bottle so I took an old (10 oz?) glass coke bottle (with a plastic screw on cap) then poked a small hole in the top and she works fine!! Now for something really weird....for the first month or so I was kinda spooning it out as needed and it didnt taste quite as good as when you shake it on...honest...sounds weird I know but to my taste buds....true story.

What's the difference in taste to regular Tabasco pepper sauce?

Amazing!! The 8 year old mash gives it a sweeter taste and the white wine vinegar has a more mellow flavor.

Is this gallon actually a plastic jug? I thought Tabasco was only bottled in glass in the gallon size?

Mine came in a plastic jug. I just transferred the sauce over to a glass jug I had previously obtained from Avery Island. The sauce is still good though.

Hi, TABASCO Family Reserve is not really any hotter than regular TABASCO. You might want to try the TABASCO Scorpion Sauce for a real hot kick. We are authorized TABASCO sellers and we have that one too.

What's the expiration date?

Unfortunately we have thrown away what we had left from the box, so I can't check for a date. The last time we opened one the color looked off, so we tossed what we had. But, I bet we used them (when we traveled) for at least 3 years.

Wasn’t earlier versions of the family reserve made from peppers from avery island v. south america? is that no longer the case

The recipe has not changed. This Reserve product is still made with peppers grown on Avery Island.
