The Sagas of Icelanders: (Penguin Classics Deluxe Edition) is a thick book of sagas and tales that provides a joy to read. It includes relevant maps of the places mentioned in the stories. The language is more straightforward than other editions, making it easier to understand. However, it lacks the ability to transport you backwards in time like some other editions. The absence of Njals Saga is a downside. Overall, this well-put-together edition is highly recommended for those interested in learning about the peoples of Scandinavia and Iceland at a reasonable price.

    Pros

    • Includes helpful information in the introduction and preface
    • Includes relevant maps of the places mentioned in the stories
    • Straightforward language makes it easy to understand
    • Reasonable price for the number of stories included

    Cons

    • Lacks the ability to transport readers backwards in time like some other editions
    • Does not include Njals Saga
    • Alternative spellings of names and places may be confusing
