    Answer : Cars manufactured since 1996 are OBD2. The test port should be on the bottom side of the drivers dashboard. Look for a rectangular 16 pin port, this is the OBD2 connector. Older cars will have a square port, OBD1 which required proprietary computer scanner, usually only at dealerships. OBD2 is universal computer cosde so it can be used on any vehicle from 96 on. The basic scanner will diagnose engine codes, more advanced models are needed for Air Bags & AntiLock Brake diagnosis.
