Africana: The Encyclopedia of the African and African-American Experience is an essential resource for anyone interested in the history of Africa and its diaspora. This 5-volume set provides a comprehensive understanding of the African and African-American experience, shedding light on underrepresented histories and individuals. However, the 2nd edition disappoints with its lack of a comprehensive index, making it difficult for readers to navigate and find specific information. Despite this drawback, the set is much easier to handle in terms of weight compared to the heavy 1st edition. Hopefully, future editions will address this issue and provide a well-indexed version. In the meantime, it is recommended to use the volumes at libraries or educational institutions for general background information.
