You just unscrew it. Be careful when selecting a replacement as this particular spout does not leak, unlike many other models in the market.

What is the difference from RP17454CB and RP17454?

RP17454CB is 6.1 x 3 x 6.1 inches, comes in chrome and brass. RP17454 is 10 x 6 x 2.6 inches and is chrome.

Is the end of the spout the diverter? Do you pull it down and push it up to direct flow?

Yes, the end of the tub spout can be pulled down to divert the water to the shower head. Pressing it back up or turning off the water will disengage the diverter.

Will the diverter stay on when the water is turned off?

The spout will stop diverting when the water is shut off and the diverter will lift back into the spout.

Will this only work with a Delta shower valve in place? I want to use an American Standard handle/control.

The part that should come with the spout is RP12307, which should be included for installation with a Delta shower valve. The adapter is important for proper function.

Does it come with that brass adapter that needs to be soldered on?

The Delta Faucet part RP17453 Tub Spout - Pull-Down Diverter In Chrome does include the necessary adapter for a 1/2" sweat on installation, which can also be removed for threading onto a 1/2" IPS.

The Delta RP17453 Diverter Tub Spout assembly does not have a removable aerator.

I need help. how do I remove the old brass adapter? when i took off the old spout, i noticed that i can barely see the nipple pipe sticking out.

The brass adapter for this tub spout was either threaded onto the supply line or sweated on. Contact customer support for further assistance.

Yes, you have to pull down the tip to divert the water.
