These sponges effectively clean dishes and are gentle on expensive pots and pans. It is said that they last longer than traditional sponges and do not smell mildewy. They start out stiff but gradually soften up, and hold up well under tough scrubbing and even sharp knives. The scrubber is made of coconut fibers and is attached to the sponge, which is made of 100% plant-based materials. The sponges are biodegradable and can break down by themselves, but an environment made for composting would accelerate the process. Although the scrubber tends to come detached after a few uses, this is preferable to using toxic glue to hold it on. These sponges are packaged in Italy and manufactured in China in a BSCI compliant plant.
