- Question : Is there another replacement for the XL624 other than this model which gets terrible reviews?Answer : We too were trying to get the XL624 or compatible based unit on reviews. For our situation as a Trane (formerly Nexia) Z-Wave Smart Home, I was very concerned about the built-in Smart Home controller and what havoc it might wreck on our system. We hired Trane certified installers to do this work. If you run into any issues or questions, Trane will not talk with homeowners; only their certified installers. The installer did a great job; there was no disturbance to our existing set up. The thermostat has been trouble-free. I do recommend this product.
- Question : The connection key to set up wifi will not work, so I am not able to connect it to wifi. Anyone know the fix?Answer : Return it. Junk! They are replacing mine this week to see if that fixes the problem

Trane XR724 Comfort Control 4H/2C Programmable Thermostat is a great replacement for the XL624 and is compatible with Alexa. The thermostat can be used without Wi-Fi and Z-wave, but to control it remotely, you will need these technologies. The installation requires certified Trane installers, and the product has been trouble-free. However, one reviewer pointed out that the connection key to set up Wi-Fi did not work, and they had to replace it.
