The pump is self-priming, and the wires are about 12 feet long, marked to match the correct battery polarity. It is also waterproof, making it suitable for various pumps, such as removing bilge water from boats, transferring liquids and diesel fuel, etc. However, the wires are very small gauge and require a larger gauge wire if the water table draw-down plus head exceeds 12 feet. It also cannot be slowed down with a 12v PWM controller, and a DC-to-DC converter is required, which can cause premature pump failure if not appropriately done. Nevertheless, it is an affordable pump option with many uses.
