The instructions are located on the back of the package. Simply lift the red lever until it sets into place.

Do the directions say to place the back end of the trap up against the wall so the trap doesn’t slide away from the mouse when it’s triggered?

These are the best and easiest mouse traps. I don’t think it matters if they are placed against the wall or sideways to the wall. I use a dab of peanut butter. The second they start to lift the compartment the mice are goners.

Can these be used for smaller rats?

Why are some people unable to catch mice with these? Lots of one star vs lots of five star.

I will tell you my experience that I have watched mice take the bait, the trap go off, the catch strike the mouse and the mouse get away. The only mice I have killed in it are juveniles and are small enough that the catch actually does it’s job. In my opinion the spring is too light for the trap.

These are excellent traps. They must be used carefully because they catch mice quickly and may not be used again. I cannot say about use with dogs or with small children.
