Tru-Spec 5000-P Fishing Hats Editorial Review
The Tru-Spec Boonie hat is a lightweight and comfortable option for sun protection, although it may not provide as much protection as other types of hats. The material is great and matches the brand's patterns well. The wide brim may be floppy but does not obstruct vision. Quality control is questionable for some, although for most, the construction and quality are satisfactory. The hat is durable and can stand up to sun exposure and wear and tear. The classic Tiger Stripe pattern is a popular choice. The hat does not have a map pocket, and the plastic cord lock is prone to breaking. The hat is made of 100% cotton (at least for some colors), but only the bill is rip-stop. The olive drab color may not match vintage Vietnam-era clothing, but washing can restore color subtlety.
