- Question : Does the sensor chime or make an alarm type of noise when the door is open?Answer : The sensor can be set to make a sound on opening. However, you will need an Abode Gateway/Hub to operate.
- Question : Will the sensor work with Insteon hub and system?Answer : No, it will not. You need an Abode hub.
- Question : Do I need to purchase anything else for the recessed sensor to work? And does it work on Android phones?Answer : Abode security devices such as the recessed door sensors must be connected to the Abode Gateway or Iota Hub for them to work. Only the Abode video camera will work without purchasing the gateway or iota. They do work on Android phones.
- Question : How can the sensor be installed on a window?Answer : Installing the Abode recessed sensor on a window can be difficult. It would require the window frame to have enough area to drill a 3/4" X 3" deep hole and the area around the window pane would need enough room for a 3/4" X 3/4" hole. Abode recommends the Mini sensors as they are much smaller in size.
- Question : Will the sensor work with Google Nest Hub Max or do I need another gateway?Answer : To integrate with your Google account, the unit requires an Abode Gateway/Hub to communicate with Google.
- Question : What is the approximate lifetime of the battery?Answer : The battery can last up to 4-6 years depending upon its use.
- Question : Can the sensor work as a standalone or only with the full security system?Answer : It only works with the Abode system, as Abode uses a proprietary protocol.

The Abode Recessed Door Sensor allows users to know when their doors or windows are opened or closed and works with Apple HomeKit and Alexa. It is not designed for outdoor use, and it needs to be connected to the abode gateway or Iota hub for it to work. It can be set to make a sound on opening and its battery can last up to 4-6 years depending upon its use. The Abode sensors only work with the Abode hubs, and it does not work with a Google Nest hub, Insteon hub or as a standalone product. Installing this on a window can be difficult, and it is recommended to use the Mini sensors instead. Customers found the Abode Recessed Door Sensor easy to install and program, and the product works great for their needs. However, there were complaints about the technical support received when encountering issues connecting to an iPhone. Many customers appreciated the easy battery replacement feature and the small size, making it easy to install.
