Question : Will this work on a car that was previously owned by a smoker? And what exactly is it made from?
Answer : The sponge appears to be similar to a sponge soft consistency. To eliminate the smell of smoke from a previously owned car, it is recommended to use febreze, magic erasers, and some pine sol in your water to wash down the interior. If you want perfection get it detailed but ask the business first if they can eliminate the smell that's their business and they are good at it. In my area a thorough detailing with carpets and upholstery being cleaned is about $150 or less.
Question : Is this the same as a chemical sponge?
Answer : Yes, this is exactly the same as chemical sponges. Although oddly enough there are no chemicals in it. It is a sponge made of natural volcanized rubber. Hope this helps!
Question : Will it clean soot inside dryer drum?
Answer : It will remove soot that is like a film substance. It will not remove dark burnt marks or stains. It absorbs topical dirt/ soot from any surface that will release it. Hopefully this helps. Good luck with your project.
Question : Is there a way to clean soot sponges or should they be replaced when they turn black?
Answer : Most people do replace them. However, they can be washed in warm mild soapy water. They must air dry completely before reusing. They take about a week to get completely dry. Hope this helps.
Question : How many sponges are in a pack, and how many to clean a ceiling about 15' X 50' ?
Answer : One sponge per package. I cleaned a 16' X 16' ceiling plus 4 walls with 4 sponges. They can be cleaned and reused.
Question : Is this safe for use on the glass door of a pellet stove?
Answer : The sponge is safe to use on glass doors. This sponge is a rubber sponge so it will not harm a surface. Just keep in mind that it does not take off set in stains or surfaces that has been burned. The sponge is intended to use dry to absorb topical soot/dirt from any surface that you do not want to get wet. Soot from fires is something that does not mix well with water. You should check with the manufacturer of your stove to see what they recommend to clean the glass door. I believe in a lot of cases, you can use a liquid cleaner to clean the door after you remove the bulk of the soot from with the soot sponge. Hopefully this helps you. Good luck with your project.
Question : Would this work on candle soot?
Answer : It did not work for me.
Question : Does this work on ceilings with flat paint?
Answer : I used it on gloss white paint on my fireplace to remove soot but unfortunately it didn’t work for me. I had success with grease lightning though.
Question : Will it work on textured ceiling?
Answer : Yes, at least it worked on our 'skip trowel' plaster ceiling. The eraser will lose effectiveness as the ceiling becomes more rough, less, smooth - I believe that popcorn ceilings would probably be the hardest to use the eraser on. But FWIW This product is going to work better than anything else other than painting the whole ceiling.
