The AMACO-35419A Potters Choice Glaze, Saturation Gold PC-02, 1 Pint is a beautiful glaze that creates a metallic matte finish. However, the glaze does not turn out to be a true yellow gold as the name suggests, it actually produces a copper color. Some customers have reported that the glaze turns black instead of gold, even when following the directions and applying multiple coats. It is recommended to apply at least 4-5 layers of the glaze for the gold color to show. The glaze works well when fired at cone 6 oxidation, but may not achieve its full potential when fired at cone 3. It is also food safe when fired to cone 6, but becomes more porous at higher temperatures. Overall, while the glaze produces a beautiful copper color, it may not meet expectations if looking for a true gold color.
