By using our calibration standards, you'll have the peace of mind that comes from knowing your instrument is functioning correctly. We recommend using multiple calibration standards to cover the range in which you typically work. This allows you to verify the linearity of your instrument and ensure precise measurements. Different correction factors may be required for high and low electrical conductivity (EC) values.
By calibrating your meter across the entire range, you can have confidence in the accuracy of your results. While some water testing applications still use the Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) terminology, it is important to understand its limitations. Conductivity depends on the specific solids dissolved in the water, leading to variations in readings across different situations. Our Biopharm conductivity standards are calibrated using NIST traceable potassium chloride conductivity reference standards, measured in microSiemens per centimeter (uS/cm) at 25°C. To provide additional utility, we include TDS cross-reference values for meters with TDS scales.
These values are derived from ppm NaCl and the 442 natural water curve, making them suitable for water testing, hydroponic, and aquaculture applications. However, we encourage the use of EC (electrical conductivity) readings, as they are more precise for most applications. Our Conductivity Calibration Standard 3-Pack is designed to meet your needs for reliable measurements. Each pack contains three 500 mL (1.06 pint) bottles, calibrated to 1,000 μS, 10,000 μS, and 100,000 μS respectively.
